Course description
This course explores the relationship between somatic awareness, tactile and improvised listening, and body-based sound art.
The course will introduce a number of seminal works within this topic. Students will participate in practice-based listening, vocal, and movement techniques, gaining firsthand experience of the ways in which this tripartite relationship functions. Finally, students will also create their own sound work through the filter of these embodied practices.

Through this course, students will:
•    have a broadened understanding of the relationship between somatic awareness and sonic/musical interpretation;
•    demonstrate a basic knowledge of critical language within the field of listening and body-based sound art
•    produce a practical work that addresses and responds to key concepts explored during this course
