KUNO BIENNIAL 2023 IN VILNIUS
OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR THE KUNO BIENNIAL: SHARED IMAGINATIONS
Vilnius Academy of Arts invites students to take part in the first KUNO biennial that will take place in the Vilnius Academy of Arts in October 2023. KUNO biennale had two pre-expos: Tallinn, EKA in 2021, and Turku Academy of Arts in 2022.
In Vilnius, this nomadic biennial proposes exploring shared imaginations. While the KUNO network unites 18 Nordic-Baltic fine art academies and aims to become an art university without walls, we suggest imagining how this transnational school would manifest itself in a single exhibition. Can we imagine together? Can our imaginations create or at least fabricate a sense of togetherness? Do our biological minds limit our vision? Are we creating new ideas or just recreating old myths? Are there any vessels for memories that we could share? Can these memories be reimagined? We suggest artists reflect on these and other questions and create shared imaginations together, employing an open-minded approach and individual quirks.
The exhibition is curated by the students of the Art History and Theory department of Vilnius Academy of Arts.
Application deadline: April 10, 2023
Eligibility: full-degree students of any KUNO network academy across various disciplines and study years are welcome to apply.
