Course description:

This workshop introduces the students to classical fresco techniques over five days of experiments. Fresco is a technique of mural painting executed upon freshly laid lime plaster. Water is used as the vehicle for the dry-powder pigment to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall.

The technical experiments will be put into an art historical perspective in a guest appearance by Rune Finseth. Finseth is an art historian who recently finished his master-thesis on fresco works in modernism, which he will expand upon.

Materials are included.
