Course description:
The title of the workshop, New Weather, refers to an urgent issue of our time. In this intensive week long workshop participants have the opportunity to respond intuitively developing a multi-media installation: materials and techniques coupled to ideas around ”New Weather”. New loops of multiple storms with reoccurring days of fleeting sun. What situation can be made of assemblage/sculpture that integrates or interacts with sound and video? What new patterns do we find as we adjust to new weather?

Basic sculptural casting methods of relief or form casting start the discussion of repetition and multiples. Materials can vary but wax, gyps, tin, betong are at hand, plus sound and video equipment. In addition found materials, a dimension of climate change with regard to resources and overproduction, will be in focus. ”New Weather” will thus be developed through experimentation in the gallery as laboratory during the week. The week begins in the sculpture workshop, followed by a field trip to the Natural History museum, readings, further work in the workshops and gallery with daily readings and discussion. The week ends with the presentation in the gallery. This is an intensive course for experimental making and doing with examples of art, film and writing relevant for critical discussions of the work.
