Course description
What shall we do? Is Alice in Wonderland a new real? Fakes everywhere, “deep” or shallow, freaky or banal, everybody and everything lies, can’t trust our eyes (and other senses) anymore. Images lie, appearances lie. Well, it seems we are cornered… But we still have to find the way out. Nihilism is not an answer. Diligent and resolute warriors of the phenomenal truth as we are, we are facing an onslaught of existential falsity. Plato rightly suspected that it will come to this and as a precaution, banned us from his City, Hegel retired us from History, cheerfully proclaiming that our mission is “accomplished”. By “we” I, of course, mean us, artists. Is there still any meaning left in creation of appearances? Perhaps sticking to fidelity? Fidelity to small things (within the reach of your arms—cups, pine cones, twigs, small neglected gestures). Rabid fidelity. Why don’t we go back to basic sensorics of taste, touch, smell? Flushing out the concept and keeping just an idea. If there’s nothing left to see, perhaps we shall close our eyes and try to remember? To remember instead of imagine, remember actively, not re-actively. Finding something of a guidance in Deleuze’s Painting and the Question of Concepts? Let’s see…

Financial Support by KUNO:
Travel support between countries: 330 € (except 660 € to/from Iceland)
Subsistence: 250 € -1st week (5-7 days).
Eligibility:
- only BA and MA full-degree students from the KUNO network schools can participate;
-exchange students from other institutions, which do not belong to the KUNO network, studying at one of the KUNO network schools, CANNOT participate;
- full-degree students from the KUNO network schools, currently on exchange at another institution, CANNOT participate (neither with nor without the KUNO grant).
